Congressman Richard E. Neal, Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, State Representatives Paul W. Mark and Bud Williams, the U.S. Census Bureau and the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission will hold a Census 2020 Informational Briefing to raise awareness for the U.S. Census Outreach efforts in the Pioneer Valley.

“So glad to host Congressman Neal, Reps. Williams and Mark and deeply appreciate their continued dedicated efforts along with my Election Commissioner Gladys Oyola-Lopez to get the word out on this important cause,” said Mayor Sarno. “You see, numbers count - ‘we must show up to move up!’ We must make sure our City voices are heard and represented properly in order for all our funding resources to be at maximum capacity.  This is about continuing to reinvest in our Springfield community.”

The U.S. Census, which is conducted every ten years, provides a snapshot of our nation that helps to determine where to build new schools and businesses and how federal funding is distributed. With the 2020 Census less than a year away, outreach efforts are being conducted by Complete Count Committees, which are coalitions of state and local governments, businesses and community organizations that support outreach and educate the Commonwealth on the importance of the Census.

Congressman Neal is Chair of the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means. Mayor Sarno has served as Mayor of the City of Springfield since 2008. Representative Mark currently Chairs the House Committee on Redistricting, and Representative Williams serves on the same Committee as Vice Chair.
