Springfield, MA - Mayor Domenic J. Sarno will raise the LGBTQ flag and issue a proclamation declaring June as LGBTQ Pride Month here in our City of Springfield. This year’s flag raising will have a special significance by honoring Chestnut Middle School TAG Principal Dr. Declan O’Connor, who just recently announced changing his gender presentation to align with what he has always felt was his male identity.
Mayor Sarno states, “Having witnessed the work of Dr. O’Connor, and as I stated earlier this week when he made the announcement, he has done a great job. I am very proud of him and thankful for all he and his team have continued to do for our students and their families. Dr. O’Connor and team have forged a successful path to our students that they can and will succeed.”
