Mayor Sarno and Acting Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood Announce Tentative Agreement on Police Supervisors Contract

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states, “Though contentious at times, I am pleased that this is another contract resolved. Now through Acting Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood, we will continue to push for body worn cameras ASAP and strengthening of our overall policies and procedures to continue to enhance and build trust and mutual respect, with our police and community relations.”

Highlights of the contract include body worn cameras, residency, Narcan and social media policy.

Acting Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood said, “This is fair agreement that will help us proceed with our goal of moving the department forward in a positive direction.  It is equitable to the contract the IPBO Local 364 Patrolman’s Union received in 2018.  The contract contains social media, Narcan and body-worn camera polices which will be beneficial for both the Police Department and the citizens of Springfield.”

"I am extremely proud that we have reached a tentative agreement with the City of Springfield that gives our members security and reasonable expectations as they plan their futures. I would like to thank his honor, Mayor Sarno and his staff for remaining at the table to see this process to completion,” said Captain Brian Keenan, President of the Springfield Police Supervisors Association. “The men and women of the Springfield Police Supervisors Association are an extremely dedicated and hard working group of people who serve their community with distinction. It is encouraging to know that all the police labor unions now have contract language in place."
