Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi welcomed Springfield’s two newest firefighters, William M. Messer and Adam R. Rivera, during a ceremony at Springfield Fire Headquarters this morning.
Rivera graduated from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services academy in Stowe on March 30, 2018. Messer transferred to the Springfield Fire Department from the Amherst Fire Department. Both firefighters will be assigned to Engine 1.
Mayor Sarno congratulated Springfield’s newest public safety officials. He said, “My congratulations and thanks to our new firefighters and their families. It’s great to have you on our team and I appreciate your brave and dedicated services to our city. Godspeed.”
