Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states, “I support and stand with Governor Charlie Baker’s proposed legislation to tackle the opioid crisis. As with the Governor, I again, oppose the injection site approach, but with proper funding of treatment beds here for Springfield residents in Springfield medical facilities and/or the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and not in neighborhood storefront areas, this ‘tough love’ and forced rehab is the way to go. I commend Governor Baker, our health care professionals and elected officials for the continued full frontal attack on this health/public safety crisis that needs to be enhanced ASAP.”
