Cambridge College Launches the Commonwealth's First Hospitality Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Cambridge College and the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Apprentice Standards have announced the launch of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ very first Hospitality Pre-Apprentice Program in the greater Springfield area.  Cambridge College, in association the Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau and their members, MGM Springfield, and many other local hospitality organizations, will prepare the workforce for the high demand career positions in the hospitality industry.

The objective of the Hospitality Pre-Apprenticeship Program is to prepare students to work in a variety of positions by providing job specific, foundational courses and an introduction to luxury guest service.  The classes are geared towards entry-level positions and are ideal for job seekers that aspire to build a career in hospitality.  Upon completion, students will be presented with a certificate of completion and will receive assistance applying to open positions at any local hospitality job in Springfield.

Cambridge College will be presented was their official certificate as the first Program Sponsor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to offer this Pre-Apprentice Hospitality Program. Distinguished speakers included Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Cambridge College President Deborah Jackson, Cambridge College Director Teresa Forte, MGM Springfield Vice President of Talent & Workforce Development Wanda Smith-Gispert, Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau President Mary Kay Wydra, Director of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards William McKinney. Also in attendance were State Representative Carlos Gonzalez, Massachusetts Gaming Commission Member Bruce Stebbins, MGM Springfield General Manager Alex Dixon, and MGM Springfield Vice President of Human Resources Marikate Murren.
