The Office of Mayor Domenic J. Sarno along with Association of Black Business and Professionals and The Black Leadership Alliance (BLA) will be hosting a Kwanzaa celebration at 12:00PM on Friday, December 29, 2017. The event will take place at UMass Center at Springfield located at 1500 Main Street on the second floor of Tower Square.
Residents who participate in this year's celebration can expect to participate in a candle lighting ceremony that honors faith, family, community, and African American culture. Mayor Domenic J. Sarno is scheduled to speak at the event. The keynote speaker is Alex Dixon, General Manager MGM Dixon Springfield.
There will be speakers, poets, singers, choirs, short film, food, and more. There will also be a collection of men’s coats, socks, gloves, etc. to be donated to the Springfield Rescue mission.
