Governor Charlie Baker was in Springfield on Friday to meet with the family of Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Sullivan along with Mayor Sarno and Director of Parks, Recreation and Building Management Patrick Sullivan. Governor Baker presented the Sullivan family with a flag flown over the United States Capitol and Massachusetts State House. In turn, the Sullivan family and Director Sullivan gifted Governor Baker with a framed photo of GySgt. Sullivan and the new Gunnery Sergeant Thomas J. Sullivan Park, which was largely funded by a PARC (Parkland Acquisition and Renovations for Communities) grant from the MA Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
