Mayor Sarno participated in an exciting announcement about the funding for the reinvention of Pynchon Park. The announcement took place in the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History on Monday, November 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Jay Ash was at the press conference to announce a $3.5 million MassWorks grant for the new Pynchon Park, which will be adjacent to the new Springfield Police Substation.
“I’m very thankful to Governor Baker, Lieutenant Governor Polito and Secretary Ash for this very generous MassWorks grant – they’ve been great partners to me and our city, especially in economic development projects,” said Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. “This Pynchon Plaza project is a key vital downtown connection from our MassMutual Center and MGM Springfield to our first class Museums complex, especially to the one and only in the world Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum. This breathes new life into this long vacant plaza.”
