More students across Springfield Public Schools will now have access to wireless internet network at home to complete their homework and school assignments! Thomas Robertson, Director for Small and Medium Business at Sprint New England, officially announced today that Springfield Public Schools is one of 118 school districts across the country participating in Sprint’s 1 Million Project.
Today, Mayor Sarno, State Rep Bud Williams and Principal George Johnson welcomed Sprint at the Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical Academy for the special announcement. As many as 150 participating students at Putnam, who did not previously have internet access at home, are receiving free wireless hotspots from the Sprint Foundation. The project will also grant another 550 hotspots to high school students across the district.
In efforts aiming to close the homework gap, Sprints 1 Million Project will provide 1 million free devices and wireless service to high school students across the nation who cant complete their schoolwork at home because they lack internet access.
