Springfield Police Department Promotes 22 Officers

Mayor Sarno and Commissioner Barbieri were proud to congratulate the 22 men and women in blue who received the badges at today's pinning ceremony. Included in the promotions is Cheryl Clapprood, a 38-year veteran who was named the first female Deputy Chief in the history of the Springfield Police Department.

Promoted were:

•Cheryl Clapprood was promoted to deputy chief;...
•Steven Kent, Robert Tardiff and Richard LaBelle were promoted to captain;
•Reginald Miller, Charles Howard, Lawrence Murphy and Jeffrey Martucci were promoted to lieutenant;
•and promoted to the rank of sergeant were Louis Rosario, Shaun Linnehan, George Flanagan, James Mazza, Moises Zanazanian, Edward Seder, John Wadlegger, Joseph Piemonte, Mark Russell, Eleni Barbieri, John Taylor, Mark Jones and David Arroyo.

Mayor Sarno said, “I am proud of each and every one of these officers and thank them and their families for their continued brave and dedicated efforts to keep our city safe.”

“This ceremony honors their achievements, highlighting this benchmark in their careers, and serves to thank them and their families for the sacrifices they continue to make in order to serve and protect the residents of Springfield,” said Commissioner Barbieri. He continued, “The promoted personnel have agreed to take on the tremendous the burden of responsibility of ensuring that their assigned personnel perform in the manner predicated by sworn oaths of office, while serving as leaders, mentors and role models for our officers.”
