In response to a recent inquiry regarding the naming of the Forest Park tennis courts by Angelica Core, a writer with the Republican, Mayor Domenic J. Sarno states “This is my administration’s continued efforts to enhance “quality of Life” initiatives for all residents and neighborhoods.” Also, I think it would be great to consider naming the tennis courts after Springfield native tennis pro & Wimbledon semi-finalist Springfield’s own Tim Mayotte, who honed his skills right here in Forest Park on these tennis courts.
Patrick Sullivan, Director of Parks, Buildings, and Recreation stated “we are thrilled to have received funding from Mayor Sarno to renovate the Forest Park tennis facility. The courts have fallen into disrepair and with the new renovation we are hopeful to once again host regional tournaments and expand programs to our residents throughout the city.”
