Mayor Domenic J. Sarno hosted Nicola De Santis, the Italian Consul General from Boston, for continued meetings with Paul Picknelly, President of Monarch Enterprises, and Giuseppe Polimeni, International Education Advisor at Wilbraham Monson Academy. Their discussion explored means to strengthen relations between the City of Springfield and the ancient city of Viterbo, which is located in the Lazio region of Central Italy.
Mayor Sarno said, “Because of Springfield’s booming $3.3 billion in economic development, Consul General De Santis and I agree that it is the opportune time to reinvigorate this relationship to reestablish economic development, tourism, arts and culture, and educational cross opportunities.”
Mayor Sarno and Consul General De Santis look forward to holding an exciting announcement about redeveloping the sister city relationship in the near future.
