Star Spangled Springfield Announced for 4th of July

This afternoon the Spirit of Springfield announced plans to make July 4, 2017, a Star Spangled Springfield, sponsored by MassMutual.  Judy Matt, Spirit of Springfield President, was joined by Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Dennis Duquette, Head of Community Responsibility at MassMutual and President of the MassMutual Foundation, Chief Master Sergeant Maryanne Walts, 104th Fighter Wing, Barnes Air National Guard Base, Kathy Tobin, Director of Annual Giving and Events for Baystate Health Foundation, Police Commissioner John Barbieri, Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant and Fire Marshal David Rivera.

The festivities on Independence Day will include patriotism, pyrotechnics and music in Riverfront Park starting at 7PM. After a brief speaking program, the 40 members of the 215th Army Band of the Massachusetts Army National Guard will perform popular tunes and patriotic favorites.  At 9:30PM, Fireworks by Grucci will showcase their pyrotechnic wizardry from the Memorial Bridge. The brilliantly colored rockets will dance to music broadcast on Mix 93.1 FM. 

“MassMutual is proud to be part of such a wonderful Fourth of July celebration here in Springfield,” said Duquette. “It is an important time to recognize our history as a country and a community and we hope that the Springfield community and families from across our region will come out to enjoy this world-class celebration.”
