Mayor Sarno Proclaims "Ruth Tracy Day" in the City of Springfield

Tuesday, June 6, 2017

Mayor Sarno issued a proclamation today recognizing Ruth Tracy for her more than 40 years of volunteer work with the Pine Point Senior Center. Ruth is 94 years young and has lived in Springfield for her entire life. She worked for Monarch Life insurance for 12 years and retired in 1963. She and her husband Wilbur were married in 1966, and soon after started attending the Pine Point Senior Center together. She has been volunteering her time there ever since, helping to serve lunch and providing lunch donations. Ruthie is described by her friends and family as "quiet as a mouse but sharp as a tack!" Her presence will be greatly missed at the Senior Center. Mayor Sarno, Health & Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, Elder Affairs Director Sandy Federico and Eliana Gutierrez attended her party today to thank her for all of her years dedicated to our seniors.
