Mayor Domenic J. Sarno welcomed Ömür Budak, Consul General of Turkey in Boston, today to the City of Springfield, for a discussion on how to strengthen the partnership between the city and its Turkish-American residents. Consul General Budak shared that in the Commonwealth, the largest populations of residents of Turkish descent reside in the Greater Springfield and Boston areas. Also joining them for the meeting were the Mayor’s Chief of Staff Denise Jordan; Tuncay Bayrak, Ph.D.; a professor in the College of Business at Western New England University; Halil Mutlu, M.D., doctor of internal medicine at Baystate Hospital, Lynne Mutlu, M.S., PA-C, director of Clinical education at Westfield State University; and Tamer Tas, security for the Consul General.
