Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Congressman Richard E. Neal and Tom Belton, Director of Springfield Veterans’ Services Department, honored those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War during the annual Vietnam Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Sunday in Court Square.
Mayor Sarno said, “I am honored to once again honor our Vietnam Veterans. We should always remember and never forget the ultimate sacrifice our Veterans put forth so we can lead the lives we do today. Though Vietnam Veterans did not receive the proper respect when they returned home, I’m so appreciative now that they are so respected for their brave service to our country. They have led the way to make sure all our Vets continue to be properly honored.”
