Springfield Redevelopment Authority to Sponsor Free Vendor Workshops

Friday, January 20, 2017

The Springfield Redevelopment Authority will sponsor two free vendor workshops for those interested in establishing their own business and becoming more marketable entities. The classes, Connecting Your Business to the Commonwealth and COMMBUYS Vendor Registration Assistance will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Richard E. Neal City Hall Annex Building at 70 Tapley Street, Springfield, MA 01105.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno said, “Our economy continues to improve and my administration continues to push on economic development projects big and small to create more jobs. It is vitally important that all can prosper, especially in our minority, woman and/or disadvantaged business enterprise communities. The key is to be properly certified to compete for these upcoming opportunities. I urge any and all to attend these Supplier Diversity Office pre-certification workshops.”

Connecting Your Business to the Commonwealth will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will teach participants where to find government business opportunities, the basics of COMMBUYS, about the Small Business Purchasing Program and the process for Goods and Services, and more.

During the COMMBUYS Vendor Registration Assistance workshop, which will be held from 12:15 to 12:40 p.m., Operational Services Division (OSD) trainers will assist attendees with obtaining a free COMMBUYS vendor account. COMMBUYS is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s online procurement center where government bidding opportunities are housed.

For those interested in attending, please see the accompanying flyer and to register for either class, visit www.mass.gov/sdo.
