Mayor Sarno Joins Cities Thrive Coalition in Urging Congress Against ACA Repeal

Tuesday, January 17, 2017

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno has joined the Cities Thrive Coalition in informing Congress how repealing the Affordable Care Act will negatively affect the nation’s behavioral healthcare system. Please see the letter below signed by Mayor Sarno and mayors across the United States, submitted to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, House Speaker Paul Ryan, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Mayor Sarno stated, “Not having the proper resources and treatment programs to deal with mental health illness and substance abuse addiction leaves the issue at the ‘doorsteps’ of mayors, police departments, courts and jail systems. I commend all those involved in advocating for mental health reform, which the ACA provides – it’s a step in the right direction.”
