Springfield a Top Christmas Town in Massachusetts

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Looking for a special place to spend Christmas and the Holiday Season? Look no further than our own City of Springfield and eleven other festive communities across Massachusetts. Mayor Domenic J. Sarno is happy to announce that Springfield was recently named one of the 12 Most Enchanting, Magical Christmas Towns In Massachusetts by OnlyInYourState.com.

Mayor Sarno stated, “’We made another good list!’ I’d really like to commend the Spirit of Springfield, Judy Matt and our generous business community benefactors for again ‘putting us on the map.’ It’s a good and unique private and public collaboration.”

Coming in at #7, the website states that “Springfield makes the list due to the town's stunning Bright Nights at Forest Park light display. Cruise through the largest holiday light display in New England on a horse-drawn carriage, or from the comfort of your own car. This town puts on a show that really makes you feel like you've entered another world.” To view the full list, please visit: http://www.onlyinyourstate.com/massachusetts/christmas-towns-2016-ma/.

Since 1995, Bright Nights has been a unique public/private partnership between the City of Springfield’s Department of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management and the Spirit of Springfield. More than 3.8 million people have visited the attraction, and since its first season, it has been named seven times as one of the Top 100 Attractions in North America by the American Bus Association, listed on People.com as “One of the Top Ten Holiday Happenings in America,” and been featured in the New York Times, and magazine that include Motorhome, Colonial Homes, Yankee and U.S. Airways, as well as on Yahoo.com.

Bright Nights runs through January 1, 2017. For more information please visit their website at: www.brightnights.org.
