City of Springfield Recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and City of Springfield employees recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month with “Pink and Denim Day,” today. Mayor Sarno and pink-clad employees gathered in City Hall Room 220 for a press conference, proclamation presentation and group photo. Mayor Sarno proclaimed the month of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Springfield.

Mayor Sarno said, “We all have family and friends who have battled this challenge. My administration is proud to stand with those affected and Baystate Medical Center in continuing to raise funds to cure and beat this medical challenge."

Donations for Rays of Hope were collected in the Mayor’s Office from October 14-26. Rays of Hope provides funding to breast health programs at the Baystate Breast & Wellness Center as well as the breast cancer care programs at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Baystate Mary Lane Hospital and several community organizations, including Cancer House of Hope and Cancer Connection.
