Today Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined Springfield Technical Community College President Dr. John Cook, former President Dr. Ira H. Rubenzahl, Congressman Richard E. Neal, STCC and local officials for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Ira H. Rubenzahl Learning Commons. Consigli Construction will rehabilitate Building 19, a former rifle warehouse for the Springfield Armory predating the Civil War, into a new campus center for the college. The $50 million project is set to open in the fall of 2018 and will include offices for admissions, registration, financial aid, the bookstore, the welcome center, student government, health services, student activities, a café, conference space, and more.
