Big Y Celebrates the Completion of $4.1 Million in Renovations at Cooley Street Location

Big Y Foods, Inc. today announced the completion of a $4.1 million renovation project to the Big Y World Class Market at 300 Cooley Street. Upgrades to the store feature a new Living Well Eating Smart section, sushi department, stir-fry station, salad bar, and improved pharmacy privacy area. New décor and fixtures are featured throughout the interior of the store. The celebratory cake-cutting ceremony showcased improvements to the exterior, featuring a new flag pole and farmer’s market style open-air entrance.

Mayor Sarno was happy to bring greetings and congratulations to the store management and D’Amour family on behalf of the City of Springfield. Superintendent of Schools Daniel Warwick and Springfield school principals were in attendance to accept donations for their schools: Arthur Talmadge School, Mill Pond School, Alfred Glickman School, Elias Brookings School, M. Marcus Kiley School, Duggan Academy, Mary Lynch School, Sabis International School, and St. Michael’s Academy. City Councilor Kateri Walsh and Western Mass EDC Director Rick Sullivan extended their congratulations, and State Rep. Angelo Puppolo presented a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to mark the occasion.
