Today is the U.S. Department of Education’s Read Where You Are digital day of action to raise awareness and draw attention to the importance of summer reading wherever children spend their time. Read Where You Are supports President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative. My Brother’s Keeper works to address persistent opportunity gaps affecting in particular boys and young men of color and ensure that all young people have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Here’s what you can do to be involved and help get more people involved:
1. Spread the word: Tweet, retweet, post, Snap, ‘gram and chat. Share our graphic, shown in English and Spanish, and let your network know you plan to Read Where You Are. Make sure to use #ReadWhereYouAre. You can also share http://www.ed.gov/readwhereyouare to help people learn more.
2. Plan for Read Where You Are: Which book will you read? Which picture will you share?
TODAY, here’s how to be a part of the nationwide effort to Read Where You Are:
1. Read! Read with a child and take a photo.
2. Share a photo on social media with the hashtag #ReadWhereYouAre.
3. Have fun! Along with the photo, tell us your favorite book, your favorite author, or what you love about reading.
