Mayor Sarno Addresses Sisters Centennial Motorcycle Riders

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno greeted the Sisters Centennial Motorcycle Riders at the Museum of Springfield History this morning as they begin their cross-country ride to commemorate the centennial anniversary if the ride The Van Buren Sisters took on 1916, on Indian Motorcycles. Notably in attendance was Dan Van Buren, grandson of original rider Adeline Van Buren.

Mayor Sarno said, “How appropriate that these young ladies embark on this not only historic, but sentimental journey from the birthplace of the ‘Indian Motocycles’ - Springfield, Massachusetts – ‘back to the future’.”

Additionally, Mayor Sarno presented the group with an official proclamation declaring Tuesday, June 5, 2016 as "Sisters Centennial Motorcycle Ride Day" in the City of Springfield.
