City of Springfield Participates in Bay State Bike Week

On Wednesday, May 18, a Bay State Bike Week Commuter Breakfast was held  from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. with massRIDES for commuters who work in the downtown area. Mayor Domenic J. Sarno was at Court Square to greet riders and pass out water, granola bars, orange juice and bike safety gear such as reflective stickers and battery powered lights.

Mayor Sarno commented, “This is a great, healthy way not only to get to work, but to keep fit too.”

The City of Springfield is participating in the 17th Annual Pioneer Valley Bay State Bike Week during the week of May 14 to May 22. Every year during Bay State Bike Week, participants across the Commonwealth organize bike rides and bike-centric events to encourage new riders and raise awareness about bicycle transportation.

More information about events and registration in Springfield and across the state can be found at: http://www.baystatebikeweek.org/.
