$5,000 Awarded for Affordable Housing Fair and Community Resource Block Party

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Buy Springfield Now, and the Realtor’s Association of Pioneer Valley will be announcing a $5,000 grant awarded to aid in the planning and execution of an Affordable Housing Fair and Resource Block Party which will be held on Thursday, May 12 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Concord Terrance. The announcement will take place on Friday, May 6 at 10:15 a.m. at 122 Industry Avenue in Springfield.

 “Buy Springfield Now has been a strong public/private initiative that showcases our great housing stock, buys and neighborhoods. This collaboration and event continues to highlight our Springfield,” said Mayor Sarno.

 Buy Springfield Now and The National Association of REALTORS® along with Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Center have joined together to foster a plan committed to community outreach and involvement. In their commitment they have made several grants available to local associations, including the Housing Opportunity Program Grant.

 The Housing Opportunity Program Grant supports the efforts of state and local REALTOR® associations that are implementing affordable housing programs and initiatives. The goal of the program is to position REALTORS® as leaders in improving their communities by creating housing opportunities.
