PVAHEC REACH

The PVAHEC REACH Chapter is the youth component of the Pioneer Valley AHEC, part of the Mass AHEC Network program and the Springfield Department of Health & Human Services. This component is designed to expose students in high school to a variety of careers in the health field as well as to the health issues affecting their communities. The PVAHEC REACH Program is also a Chapter of The 84 Movement, a statewide initiative to raise awareness around Big Tobacco and its blatant target of youth. PVAHEC REACH has been involved in The Movement since Fall 2007 and has presented to the Springfield City Council and Springfield Public Health Council each one of those years on project initiatives to help pass tobacco regulations and to protect youth in the community. This year, at The 84 Movement’s annual event Kick Butts Day, the PVAHEC REACH Chapter is being recognized with the Tobacco Takedown Award for all of their hard-worked and continued dedication to raising awareness about Big Tobacco and its influence in the community.
