Kwanzaa was celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, 2015 at the Umass Center in Springfield. The event taught participants about the history of Kwanzaa, Nguzo Saba, or The Seven Principles, and featured dance, poetry and choir performances. Vendors lined the halls and the Kinara was lit to conclude the ceremony.
Master of Ceremony was Darryl E. Moss, Deputy Director of Communications for the Mayor's Office, opening prayer was given by Reverend Will Naylor, and elected officials Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Representative Benjamin Swan gave their regards.
