Library Express at Pine Point

March 10, 2014 -Springfield, MA- Last year an independent study commissioned by the Library Commission concluded that to have a sustainable branch system, two branches should be closed. One was here in Pine Point.

In an effort to further the sustainability of the library system Mayor Sarno dedicated half a million dollars to the library budget.

However, funding for this facility was still needed. Through a lot of hard work with Superintendent of Schools Daniel Warwick and consistent advocacy by City Councilor Clodo Concepcion we were able to keep this facility not only open but with expanded hours of 30 hours per week with library and adult literacy  services for the residents of the Pine Point Neighborhood.
