City Of Springfield Parks And Recreation Management Department To Open Swimming Recreation Facilities Earlier Then Scheduled

June 26, 2013-Springfield, MA- In consultation with Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, the Department of Parks and Recreation Management is announcing the earlier then scheduled opening of City swimming and recreational facilities due to the recent heat wave. On Friday, June 28, 2013 the following facilities will be open: 

Five Mile Pond:          11:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Forest Park Pools:       12:00 PM – 6:30 PM Weekdays

11:00 AM – 6:30 PM Weekends

All splash pads located in City Parks are currently open and operational.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno stated; “I greatly appreciate the accelerated opening of these facilities by the Department Parks and Recreation Management. It is important to have these locations open so our families and children have a place to cool off and relax during these hot and humid days.”   

The pool located in the German Gerena Community School will be opening as planned on Monday July 1, 2013 from 11:30 AM – 6:30 PM 7 days a week.
