Mayor Domenic J. Sarno Issues Statement On Boston Tragegy

April 16, 2013 - Springfield, MA – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno on the tragedy yesterday at the Boston Marathon: “On behalf of the City of Springfield I wish to express our sympathies to those involved in yesterday’s horrific events in Boston. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those whose lives were lost and to those who have been injured. As we have already seen The City of Boston is resilient and will pull through this heinous and cowardly act.” 

Early this morning Mayor Domenic J. Sarno called both Governor Deval Patrick’s Office and Mayor Thomas Menino’s Office to offer any support that may be needed at this time as well as offering the City of Springfield’s sympathies. 

Immediately following news of the tragedy yesterday the City of Springfield reached out to officials in the event assistance was needed. Springfield Police Commissioner William Fitchet reached out to Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis and Emergency Management Director Bob Hassett was in contact with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency in the event any resources were needed to assist those in Boston. 

Mayor Domenic J Sarno will be participating in a prayer vigil this evening at 6:00 PM at the Foster Memorial Church, 1791 Wilbraham Road, Springfield, MA 01119
