Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Department of Public Works Director Al Chwalek announced today several major street improvement projects to commence on April 1 and April 8 in the City of Springfield.
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno stated “The projects announced today are the start of a busy 2013 construction season in Springfield. As we move forward with our rebuilding efforts projects like these are contributing to the continuing narrative that Springfield is on the mend and on the move.”
Several projects are slated to begin in the next two weeks:
Monday, April 1, 2013:
• Allen Street/BiCentennial Highway Project
• Spring Street/Elliot Street/Edwards Street Reconstruction
• Main Street/Front Street Project in Indian Orchard
Monday April 8, 2013:
• Tiffany Street will begin to be milled and paved
Funding for the Spring Street, Elliot Street, and Edwards Street project is being made possible with tremendous assistance by Congressman Richard E. Neal. He was able to secure over $1,500,000 in funding for the reconstruction of this historic block. This project will highlight the almost near completion of the Springfield Data Center on Elliot Street and our magnificent new Unite States Court House.
