The City of Springfield has issued Requests for Proposals for purchase and redevelopment of two historic homes on Mill Street, in the City’s Maple Hill Historic District.
175 Mill Street: Is a vacant, single family home, constructed circa 1890. The house is a wood-frame, 2 ½ story home with a basement. It is being sold for a minimum price of one thousand dollars, and it has $50,000 of Community Development Block Grant assistance available for exterior restoration.
120 Mill Street: Is a vacant, single family home, constructed circa 1890. The house is wood frame, 2 ½ story home with a basement. The City is seeking a developer who will remove the cinderblock addition and artificial siding. It is being sold for a minimum price of one thousand dollars and it has $25,000 of Community Development Block Grant assistance available for exterior restoration.
“These vacant and deteriorated houses have been negatively impacting the neighborhood for years,” said Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. “We are excited to have the potential of their redevelopment while preserving Springfield’s historic assets. The City is especially interested in proposals where the end use is an owner-occupied home.”
