Mayor Domenic J. Sarno stated “The City’s Finance Department is extremely deserving of this recognition especially during this day and age of challenging times of continued state aid funding cutbacks and I extend my appreciation to each of them for their ongoing commitment to the City’s fiscal stability.”

“The city continues to strive for financial excellence and this award validates that we are doing the right things to achieve this goal,” commented Springfield’s Chief Administrative and Financial Officer Lee C. Erdmann.

The City’s Finance Director, Timothy J. Plante, stated "This award is the highest recognition for budgetary excellence from the Government Finance Officers Association. I am proud of the finance team who have been able to win this award for the last 4 years. This is truly a great accomplishment."
