Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray will announce funding to support the implementation of the Tornado Rebuilding Master Plan for the City of Springfield tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at 1182 Main Street in Springfield. The Patrick-Murray Administration, in partnership with the state legislature, has remained committed to investing in the City of Springfield and other impacted communities following the June 1, 2011 tornadoes.
In the aftermath of the tornadoes, the City of Springfield hosted 19 community meetings. The feedback received by nearly 2,000 citizens helped form the Tornado Rebuilding Plan, an effort initiated by Mayor Domenic Sarno of Springfield in response to the destruction caused by the tornadoes. The Plan calls for a public-private partnership, including engagement with the citizens of Springfield, to redevelop the city bigger, better and stronger than before the tornado destruction.
