Springfield Arbor Allies In Conjunction With The Springfield Forestry Department Will Be Planting 15 Trees

The Springfield Arbor Allies in conjunction with the Springfield Forestry Department will be planting 15 trees at the corner of Walnut Street and Hickory Street in the Springfield’s Six Corners Neighborhood on Sunday, May 6, 2012.  Participants will meet 9:00 a.m. - Noon and will be planting 9 trees on the island at Walnut Street and Hickory Street and another 6 trees at Ruth Elizabeth Park.  The other 6 trees will be planted along the Hickory Street side of Ruth Elizabeth Park which now houses the temporary Brookings School.  

The Springfield Arbor Allies is program set up through the Springfield Parks Department and Forestry Department to begin to engage and encourage community members to plant trees in their neighborhood.  The tree replanting efforts are in conjunction with the Re-Green Springfield campaign of which the Springfield Arbor Allies will be the volunteer planting arm of that organization.
