Springfield’s Blight Reduction Program Continues With The Demolition of 175 Bloomfield Street In City’s Forest Park Neighborhood

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno announced the demolition of the vacant, blighted building at 175 Bloomfield Street in the City’s Forest Park neighborhood.

This property located within one of the City’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program focus areas, has long been vacant and had deteriorated beyond the point of repair.

The property was recently foreclosed by the City of Springfield for non-payment of taxes. Once demolition is complete the City will begin the process of conveying the lot to a responsible buyer.

Pre-demolition hazardous material and asbestos removal was completed by AccuTech Insulation of Ludlow, MA and demolition is being completed by crews from Charlie Arment Trucking, Inc., of Springfield, MA.

This demolition is part of a number of demolitions that have and will continue to occur as part of the Mayor’s Blight Reduction Program.
