Annual National Night Out

On Tuesday, August 2nd, neighborhoods throughout Springfield are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, will involve over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 40 million people are expected to participate in ‘America’s Night Out Against Crime’ on August 2nd. NNO 2011.

National Night Out is designed to:
 1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
                   2) Generate support for, and participate in, local
                   anticrime efforts
                   3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community              
                   4) Send a message to criminals letting them know
                   neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

On Tuesday August 2nd, residents in neighborhoods throughout Springfield and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with the neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Springfield will be hosting a variety of special events. 

“This is a night for America to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer nation. On August 2nd, we invite neighborhoods to join us in Giving Crime & Drugs A Going Away Party”.

Springfield events are as follows:

Springfield Police Department 2011  

Currently there are at least 5 National Night Out events planned in Springfield. The events are planned in partnership with a variety of community partners. On August 2nd, residents in neighborhood throughout Springfield and across the nations are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighborhood and police.
Join us as we give crime a going away party.

Sector C      East Springfield Neighborhood Council and Sector C Community Policing Beat Management Team
5:30 to 7:00 and beyond. Join us for a Neighborhood Hot Dog Roast,        Marshall Roy Field, St. James Boulevard
Free Hotdogs, Soda, Chips, etc-. Music, Bring your lawn chair.

Sector D     Indian Orchard Community Police Beat Management Team in partnership with the Indian Orchard Citizens Council    5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Hubbard Park, 205 Parker St    Hotdogs,  Prizes, Games, Music, etc.

Sector E    City View Commons / Worthington Commons  at 109 Federal Street  4:00 to 7:00 
Food, Soda, Fun  and Music.  

Sector I     Allen Park Apartments   251 Allen Park Road   6p.m. to 9p.m.
Food and fun and friendship.      .

B   Seniority House  307 Chestnut Street Event will take place at the Hobby Club (inside and out) 4 to 7 p.m.  Food and Fun and Friendship.  This is a collaboration with Home City Housing, YMCA, SAAB Ct., and Hobby Club, Seniority House and the Veterans Committee.
