Novo Nordisk's Changing Diabetes Community Awareness Day

Novo Nordisk's Changing Diabetes Community Awareness Day was a true success drawing close to 1,000 local residents.   It was an important step in bringing together area community and business leaders and residents to share the latest information about ways to help control and prevent diabetes.  As you heard, nearly 24 million Americans – including close to 560,000 people in Massachusetts – have this chronic disease.  Diabetes impacts close to 10 percent of Springfield’s population, which is why it was so great to have Mayor Sarno declare June 11 as Changing Diabetes Day in Springfield.  The event featured special guest speaker NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins who lives with Type-2 diabetes.
