NATIONAL GRANT AWARDED TO THE REALTOR® ASSOCIATION OF PIONEER VALLEY TO SUPPORT THE ‘BUY SPRINGFIELD NOW’ PROGRAM
May 17, 2010 – Continuing its support of sustainable homeownership in Springfield, the REALTOR® Association of Pioneer Valley (RAPV) will be providing a $5,000 grant to the Buy Springfield NOW program. RAPV was awarded the $5,000 after applying for a grant through the National Association of REALTORS® and the United States Council of Mayors, RAPV is one of just two organizations in the country to receive the award.
The check will be formally presented to the Buy Springfield NOW program at noon on Tuesday, May 25th at Noon at Springfield City Hall (Mayor’s Office), the event will be open to the media.
The Buy Springfield NOW program is the result of a combined effort (Mayor Domenic J. Sarno’s Office, local REALTORS®, lenders and retailers) to provide discounts and incentives to buyers purchasing a home anywhere in Springfield. The program has already helped nearly 200 families buy in Springfield since its inception in May 2009. The funding will be used to expand the Buy Springfield NOW marketing program using flyers, banners and printed materials. For more information on Buy Springfield NOW, go to www.buyspringfieldnow.com. Over 100 RAPV members (REALTORS®, lenders and attorneys) have been trained and currently participate in the Buy Springfield NOW program, assisting prospective buyers.
The Buy Springfield NOW program will hold an early summer event to celebrate the success of the program and its first anniversary. The award will be given to the Buy Springfield NOW event in the coming weeks during an open press event at the Mayor’s Office.
