April 20, 2010 – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and the City’s Department of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management announced today that the Time Out for Communities Open Gym Program began on Monday, March 29, 2010 and will run through Friday, June 11, 2010. Four school gyms are open for structured recreation. The sites are Rebecca Johnson, Kennedy, Milton Bradley and Forest Park. The hours and days of operation are as follows:
- Monday – Friday from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at Rebecca Johnson, Kennedy and Milton Bradley; and
- Monday – Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at Forest Park.
The program is administered by the Department of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management.
Mayor Sarno acknowledged the efforts of City Councilor Tim Allen, Pat Sullivan, Darryl Moss of his office and the volunteers for their support and commitment to Springfield youth and providing them with a safe place to go during their non-school hours.
