Buy Springfield Now Homebuyer Event Feb. 27

SpringfieldBuy Springfield Now, a public/private partnership seeking to promote and preserve owner occupied homeownership in Springfield, will be holding a free to the public Homebuyers Fair on Saturday, February 27 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Springfield YMCA, 275 Chestnut Street.

The event will offer a wide array of information and services for all potential homebuyers in Springfield, including first time homebuyers. Buy Springfield Now is for homebuyers interested in purchasing and living in a Springfield home. Participating organizations include lenders, realtors, attorneys, home inspectors and non-profit housing organizations.  The event will include brief informational sessions from 12 noon until 1 p.m.

Featured lenders are Hampden Bank, PeoplesBank,  Citizens Bank, Country Bank, Florence Savings Bank, Greater Springfield Credit Union, Monson Savings Bank, Springfield Neighborhood Housing Services, Prospect Mortgage and Berkshire Bank.

Loan professionals will guide attendees interested in buying and residing in a Springfield home through the pre-qualification process taking into account down payment ability, household income, credit history and desired monthly mortgage payment.

Those looking to buy a home in Springfield can also take advantage of the federal income tax credit available to consumers who sign a purchase and sale by the end of April and close on the property by the end of June this year.

The event will alsoprovide information about MassHousing loan programs, tax advice from a certified public accountant and the advantages of buying a home in Springfield.

The Buy Springfield Nowcollaboration between the City of Springfield, various lenders and non-profit housing organizations aims to highlight the City of Homes as the regional home purchase destination.
