Mayor Domenic J. Sarno stated that he was very sorry to hear about Springfield’s former Library Director Emily Bader’s passing and that his thoughts and prayers are with her husband Hank and their family. “Emily was a truly dedicated leader, who was so passionate to our library causes,” stated Sarno.
Bader had retired on July 31, 2009, after 36 years of dedicated service to the residents of the City of Springfield. “Bader was appointed Library Director in 1994 and continuously promoted the value of reading and libraries to the community,” stated Mayor Sarno.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of the Springfield Library.
