MAYOR DOMENIC J. SARNO WELCOMES RECENTLY ELECTED CITY COUNCIL AND SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO HIS OFFICE FOR A MEET AND GREET
November 13, 2009 – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno hosted a meet and greet in his City Hall office yesterday for all recently elected Springfield City Councilors and School Committee members.
The purpose of the meeting was to congratulate the recently elected officials and to introduce one another. “I felt this would be a great way to introduce everyone to their new colleagues and to discuss some issues currently facing the city that they will need to address when their term begins,” stated Sarno. Mayor Sarno indicated that a formal orientation will be scheduled in the coming weeks to assist the newly elected officials with the parliamentary process and to provide updates on various matters.
In attendance were veteran city councilor Kateri Walsh and ward councilors-elect Zaida Luna (Ward 1), Michael Fenton (Ward 2), Melvin Edwards (Ward 3), E. Henry Twiggs (Ward 4), Clodo Concepcion (Ward 5), Timothy Allen (Ward 7) and John Lysak (Ward 8). City Councilors James Ferrera, Timothy Rooke and Ward 6 Councilor-elect Keith Wright were unable to attend. School Committee members Antonette Pepe and Christopher Collins, and School Committee members-elect Norman Roldan (District 1) and Barbara Gresham (District 2) were also in attendance. School Committee members-elect Denise Hurst (At-large) and Peter Murphy (District 4) were unable to attend.
