Springfield Mayor’s Chief of Staff Denise Jordan to receive Award of Excellence

Jordan will receive award at 34th Annual Providers’ Council Convention & Expo

BOSTON – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno’s Chief of Staff, Denise Jordan, will receive an Award of Excellence on Thursday, October 29, for her dedication to and service in the Springfield mayor’s office. The award will be presented during “Mission: Possible,” the Providers’ Council 34th Annual Convention & Expo.

Jordan will receive the Municipal Official of the Year Award, given annually to a municipal official for outstanding contributions to the industry. The event will take place at the Marriott Copley Place Hotel in Boston.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno stated that he is not surprised that Denise Jordan will receive an award of excellence.  “Denise is an extremely professional, loving and caring individual who is always willing to help others,” stated Sarno.  “I am very proud that she is my Chief of Staff.  She is part of a great team that serve the residents of Springfield on a daily basis with pride,” added Sarno.

Twelve other awardees will receive Awards of Excellence, including Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, Chair of the Senate Ways & Means Committee Senator Steven C. Panagiotakos and Pine Street Inn’s Abundant Table program. The Awards of Excellence are expected to begin at 10:15 a.m. and last half an hour.

The Convention & Expo will also include greetings from Governor Deval Patrick (10 a.m.) and EOHHS Secretary Dr. JudyAnn Bigby (9 a.m.), a keynote address from national nonprofit advocate and DC Central Kitchen founder Robert Egger (9:15 a.m.) and the Peer Provider Awards ceremony, where five organizations from across Massachusetts will be honored by their peers for demonstrating excellence in the human services sector (1:30 p.m.).
