August 26, 2009 – Mayor Domenic J. Sarno issued a request today that flags at all municipal buildings be lowered to half-staff to honor the life of United States Senator Edward M. Kennedy.
Mayor Sarno extended his condolences to the Kennedy Family and stated “Senator Kennedy was a strong advocate for so many social issues.” “He was a fierce advocate for education and constantly provided consistent support and recognized the needs of the City of Springfield,” stated Sarno. “Senator Kennedy will always be known for helping and empowering people in need,” added Sarno.
