Mayor Sarno Nominates New License Commissioner

June 12, 2009 - Mayor Domenic J. Sarno announced today that he has submitted the name of Denise M. Kelcey to the Springfield City Council for confirmation to serve as a member of the City’s License Commission.  Kelcey is being nominated to fill the vacant position created by the resignation of Mary Jenewin-Caplin.

Kelcey, a Springfield resident, is employed by the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department as a Head Administrative Clerk.  She was previously employed as an Administrative Aide to former State Senate Minority Leader Brian Lees (1995-2006), and as an Administrative Clerk for the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (1993-1995).  Kelcey has served on the Sixteen Acres Civic Association’s Board of Directors and as a Member of the Springfield Republican City Committee.

Mayor Sarno stated that he is “very pleased that Ms. Kelcey is willing to serve the City as a License Commissioner and looks forward to her confirmation by the Springfield City Council.”  Mayor Sarno also thanked outgoing License Commissioner Mary Jenewin-Caplin for her service to the License Commission and to the City as a whole.
