May 29, 2009 - Mayor Domenic J. Sarno announced today the name of the individual chosen to become the City’s next Chief Development Officer. John D. Judge of Boston, Massachusetts has been chosen to fill the position vacated by former Chief Development Officer, David Panagore. Judge is President of The Judge Company, LLC, an inner-city real estate development company in Boston.
Judge possesses nearly 20 years of progressively responsible community development and nonprofit leadership experience. His previous employment experience includes serving as Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston, Inc., Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations from Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries, Inc., (Roxbury, MA), and he has held executive positions with the Boy Scouts of America (Boston, MA). Judge holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Stonehill College, and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
In addition to his professional work experience, Judge has served as Chairman of the State Commission on Community Service, on the Steering Committee of the Boston Public Library Foundation of Young Professionals, Board of Directors for Northeastern University’s School of Social Sciences and Public Policy, and as President of the Kiwanis Club of Chelsea, MA.
Mayor Sarno stated that he is “very pleased that Mr. Judge has agreed to accept this position and look forward to working with him.” “I believe Mr. Judge is an innovative thinker and that he will bring fresh development ideas to our City,” said Sarno.
Judge stated that he is “excited to apply my previous experience in private and nonprofit sectors to a diversity of projects and opportunities in the City of Springfield.” “I am grateful to Mayor Sarno for this honor and thrilled to work with him and such a dynamic team of dedicated professionals,” stated Judge.
Judge will begin his employment with the City on a part-time basis June 1, 2009, and will become full-time by June 15, 2009, so that he may transition from current business endeavors he is involved in. Judge will earn an annual salary of $105,000 per year.
