3-1-1 Service Center Launches

March 18, 2009 - Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Stephen P. Lisauskas, Executive Director of the Springfield Finance Control Board, will hold a press conference at Springfield City Hall, Room 220, on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., to announce the public launch of the City’s 3-1-1 Service Center.  The 3-1-1 number and call center provide “One Call to City Hall” access to non-emergency city services.

The 3-1-1 Citizen Service Center, created primarily by transferring existing City employees, has been operating since September of 2008 and has already fielded more than 40,000 calls.  Customer service representatives are available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and services can be requested online (www.springfield-ma.gov/311) 24 hours a day.  Through the Center, citizens can obtain information from all City departments and request service from the Housing, Parks, and Public Works departments as well as the Police Ordinance Squad.

Callers within the City of Springfield can dial 3-1-1 from any land line (Verizon, Comcast, or Vonage) or from AT&T or Sprint cell phones.  While we anticipate this service being available to customers of other providers in the very near future, 3-1-1 can also be reached by dialing (413) 736-3111 or online at the City’s website.

In addition to Mayor Sarno and Mr. Lisauskas, Paul Foster, Director of CitiStat, and Donna Carney, Director of 3-1-1 will be available for questions at the press conference.  Subsequent to the press conference, media members are invited to tour the Center and listen to live calls being answered.
